BrightVine Datalink: Integrate with Smart Queries

Did you know that using the BrightVine Data Link (BVDL) you can integrate/import third-party data via flat files or APIs? Have you thought about smart queries? Yes, smart queries in Blackbaud CRM can be used as an integration tool. With Smart Query, the query can be parameterized to support different scenarios and use cases while retrieving data from the same fields.

By pulling data directly from a third party via a Custom Smart Query, this data can be mapped and imported into Blackbaud CRM via BVDL. This can replace import/export processes that are tedious or take hours. The Custom Smart Query can be configured to pull data from the last time the Job was run. This allows it to be placed in a queue so it runs at a set frequency and retrieves new records/changed records.
Implementing a Smart Query in a BrightVine Data Link allows you to retrieve and import data efficiently by leveraging out-of-the-box, parameterized queries.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to implementing a Smart Query in BVDL:
Deploy your custom smart query instance.
Add and save the smart query.
Copy the OData link (Configuration tip: For the OData link to execute correctly and retrieve data, the Application Root URL must be set). This can be set in Administration in the Configuration section by clicking the ‘Set application root URL link.
Configure the BVDL API Configuration
Configure the BVDL Field Mapping
Configure the BVDL Import Job
Configure the API to fetch query results dynamically.
